Flight Forms
Richard Hunt
Stainless steel, 35' tall
Installed: 2001

Sculpture located at northeast corner of 59th Street and Cicero Avenue.

The sculpture presents a variety of flight forms in a composition that sweeps upward, suggesting the experience of flight as a dynamic, wondrous, and practical defiance of gravity. The scale of the work gives the sculpture a meaningful presence on the site in relation to the scale and character of the architecture. It is a visible symbol to the motorists driving by, while providing an engaging experience for the interested pedestrian who is not in a hurry to catch a plane.
