| Sister City Banners Terminal 2 Strolling into the arriving gates of O'Hare International Airport you might think you've landed
into an elaborate gallery of Chicago's finest artistic district. These distinctive paintings were
created by international artists sent to Chicago by twelve of our sister and friendship cities to
create their image of Chicago. Paintings reproduced in this international perspective represent
Chicago-a world-class city with spectacular architecture, renowned cultural institutions,
championship sports teams, multi cultural neighborhoods and gorgeous beaches and parks.
Since 1960, Chicago has established official relationships with 24 international cities to encourage, among others, partnerships that promote trade, economic development, cultural awareness and educational opportunities. In 1990, the Chicago Sister Cities International Program became a non-profit organization under the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Mayor Richard M. Daley serves as Honorable Chair of the Board of Directors.
