Airport Transit System (ATS)

The Airport Transit System (ATS) is a quick and convenient way to get around O'Hare International Airport. The ATS is a free, 24-hour rail system that operates between the three domestic terminals (1, 2 and 3), the international terminal (5), all parking facilities, the Kiss 'n' Fly drop-off point, and the PACE Bus stop.

The ATS is fully automated and spans 2.7 miles, accommodating up to 2,400 passengers per hour. From beginning to end- Terminal 1 to Parking Lot E -the total travel time is just nine minutes. All points on the ATS route system are fully accessible to persons with disabilities, with elevators available at each of the stops.

Free, fully accessible shuttle buses transport visitors to the ATS station from Remote Parking Lot E.

At each ATS stop, there are escorts in green jackets to help point you in the correct direction. You can ask them where to find your gate number, a specific parking lot or your current location.

During the upcoming months many important projects are planned at O'Hare. When work occurs on or near the ATS tracks one or more of the following precautions may be taken for the safety of passengers and employees:

  • The Intervals Between Trains May Be Longer Than Usual
  • Trains May Travel At Slower Speeds Through The Work Areas
  • Trains May Be Held For Longer Dwells In Station
  • Only One Track May Be Used For Both Directions Of Travel On Some Parts of the Guideway (Track)
