  Spring Travel Advisory

The Department of Aviation offers the following tips to help ensure a smooth travel experience during the spring travel period:

Have a parking plan before heading to the airport
The Department of Aviation reminds travelers that the main parking garage at O’Hare often reaches capacity on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. During these times, motorists are directed to park in the airport’s economy parking lots and take the Airport Transit System (ATS) to the terminals.

Travelers may view our parking pages for O'Hare and Midway before leaving home. Once en route, motorists can tune to “ParkNet” (1630 AM) on the radio when they are within 2.5 miles of either airport to receive current parking lot status reports.

Use the cell phone parking lots
Cell phone parking lots located at O’Hare and Midway allow motorists to temporarily park free of charge until friends, family members or business associates call to be picked up curbside. The O’Hare lot is located at Economy Parking Lot F and the Midway lot is located at 61st Street and Cicero Avenue, just south of the main airport entrance. Remember 3-1-1

If you plan to travel with liquids, gels or aerosols in your carry-on bag remember the 3-1-1 rule: three-ounce or smaller containers which must be in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag and placed in the security bin. Only one zip-top bag is permitted per traveler. The Department of Aviation will provide complimentary zip-top bags and "footies" to travelers from dispensers located at the entrances of security checkpoints through the Easter holiday.

During inclement weather, please contact your airline, directly, regarding the status of your flight.
