Chicago's O'Hare and Midway Airports Prepare for Cold Weather Conditions
(CHICAGO) December 11, 2000 - To minimize discomfort and inconvenience for motorists, travelers, and employees at both O’Hare and Midway airports, the City of Chicago Department of Aviation enhances customer service standards initiating special outreach efforts.
"We will provide additional assistance throughout the airport roadways and parking lots for motorists and travelers experiencing weather-related problems," said Aviation Commissioner Thomas R. Walker.
For emergency service, free battery starts for disabled vehicles and vehicle escorts will be provided by Standard Parking personnel at the main parking garages and parking lots at both O’Hare and Midway.
The Department of Aviation’s Ground Transportation Offices will also be working jointly with Standard Parking, monitoring parking lots and airport roadways. Each vehicle is equipped with a mobile jump start unit to provide quick assistance. Chicago Police will also patrol roadways and parking lots identifying any stranded motorists.
The airlines advise that curbside baggage check-in will remain in place at both O’Hare and Midway, despite sub-zero temperatures.
O’Hare customers in the main parking garage seeking assistance can contact the Standard Parking office directly using one of the intercoms located outside each elevator center on all parking levels at both airports. Economy Lots provide bus shelters also equipped with intercoms at O’Hare.
For additional information regarding parking, motorists can contact Standard Parking at (773) 686-7530 at O'Hare, and (773)838-0756 at Midway.
