NORTH AMERICA FOR THE FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW
Readers Cite O'Hare As One Of The Best Connected Airports
In The World
CHICAGO - November 22, 2002. O'Hare International Airport has been voted the Best Airport in North America for the year 2002 by readers of the U.S. Edition of Business Traveler International. The airport was named Best Airport for the fifth year in a row at the magazine's award ceremony in New York on Thursday, November 21st.
"The Best Airport in North America title has been bestowed upon us for the fifth consecutive year by those who know us best - the business traveler," said Commissioner Walker. "It is satisfying to know that we provide an outstanding airport environment for the traveling public and are continually recognized by our successful efforts. We plan to continue offering improved amenities and services to all travelers," he added.
The U. S. Edition of Business Traveler International has a circulation of 41,005 catering to American business travelers who travel internationally. Readers cast their vote for the "best of the best" in many categories in the magazine's Annual Reader's Survey. The survey results will be published in the January 2003 issue of the magazine. This marks the fifth consecutive year O'Hare has been honored with this award.
Walker attributes O'Hare's high popularity with experienced travelers to a number of factors including offering more flights to more destinations than any other airport, continuous upgrading of concessions and amenities, and an ongoing emphasis on outstanding customer service.
Business travelers have a wide variety of options to choose from when flying from O'Hare. Forty-seven airlines fly non-stop or direct to over 200 destinations worldwide. The airport caters to business travelers who can take advantage of services ranging from meeting and conference facilities at the Hilton Business Center to a relaxing back or neck massage in Terminal Three.
The Department of Aviation is working hard to ensure that O'Hare remains the choice among business travelers in the future. The O'Hare Modernization Program will reconfigure existing runways and add two additional runways to relieve delays and congestion in a way that maintains safety and increases efficiency. The City's plan addresses future capacity needs to avoid delays that would otherwise result from increased demand.
