Financial Data


The City of Chicago operates Midway International Airport through the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) as a separate and distinct enterprise for financial purposes. The operating budget for the airport is separate from the City of Chicago budget and is funded through a variety of funding sources described below. City of Chicago taxes do not fund the Airport.

Economic Impact

Midway is an economic engine for the Chicagoland area. There are approximately 90,000 jobs in the Chicago Region associated with Midway, and the Aarport's annual economic impact is estimated to be $7 billion.

Funding / Revenue Sources

The operating budget for Midway is derived from a number of sources including passenger facility charges, non-airline funding sources and airline rates and charges.
