Services Provided for Travelers with Disabilities
Accessibility Guide Map
In an effort to develop awareness in the airport environment, as well as convenient and safer travel for customers with disabilities, the Chicago Department of Aviation has created the Disability Awareness & Assistance Program. Click here to download the Disability Awareness and Assistance Program brochure.
The Accessibility Guide provides a map highlighting facilities for travelers with disabilities. These facilities are also described below.
Wheelchair Assistance
All outside sidewalks have sloping curb cuts for easy wheelchair access. Throughout the airport, restrooms, elevators, signage, telephones, restaurants, drinking fountains, and diaper changing facilities are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Wheelchair assistance is available from your airline. Please contact your airline in advance to make arrangements.
Animal Relief Area
The Animal Relief Area is curbside, on the lower level. It is a gated area designated for service animal relief and is accessible at all times. All animals must be accompanied and leashed by the owner.
Elevators
Elevators located in the terminal building provide access to all passenger levels of the airport complex. All elevators have Braille and raised letters/numerals.
Parking Facilities
There are two parking garages at Midway International Airport: Terminal and Economy parking. Both of these garages have designated parking spaces for motorists with disabilities located near each of the three elevator cores. Passengers should use the center core elevators to reach the third floor to access the pedestrian bridge to the terminal building.
The Economy Lots (Red and Yellow) have designated parking near the entrances. Free shuttle buses, equipped with wheelchair lifts provide transportation between the Economy Lots and the Terminal every 15 minutes. For special assistance with parking accommodations please contact the Parking Information Hotline at 773-838-0756.
