Legislative Guide Annual Update

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is pleased to provide its 2022–2023 Legislative Guide Annual Update on the latest activities and accomplishments at Chicago O’Hare and Midway International Airports. Chicago's two-airport system and geographic location are crucial to the air traffic network throughout the region, the state, the nation, and the world. In this fast-paced global marketplace, Chicago’s airports move people and products to almost anywhere in the world on a single flight. Under Mayor Brandon Johnson’s leadership, the CDA’s contribution to the City of Chicago’s economy includes advancing the growth of the Chicago region and increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through hiring and contracting initiatives. The CDA focuses on who is doing the building at our airports, not just what we are building. As we renew our infrastructure, we continue to provide safe, secure, accessible, and sufficient space to accommodate the present and future needs and demands. Additionally, the CDA prioritizes and includes DEI, accessibility, security, and sustainability in our planning, development, and operations efforts to demonstrate our commitment to service, accessibility, and the betterment of our community while maintaining our position as leading environmental stewards and best in class in the aviation industry.

Information on the state of the airports; air service and routes; passenger experience; air cargo; capital improvements; diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; airport finance and financial structure; sustainability; safety and security; awards; the history of the airport, and more can be found within this year's Guide.
