Attention Pilots and All Other Airfield Users

The following airfield changes are scheduled to occur at O’Hare International Airport on August 20, 2015:

  • New Taxiway W
  • East portion of Taxiway F becomes W
  • Taxiway AA extended south to new Taxiway W
  • Taxiway L3 extended south to Taxiway N
  • Taxiway A16 closed and converted to new larger island between A15 and A17
  • New Taxiway N5
  • Taxiway E1 closed, but will remain in place
  • A350-900 aircraft is to be added to the current list that cannot pass other large aircraft (B747-400, B747-8, B777-300, B777-200, A340-600 or A340-500) on Taxiways A or B due to insufficient wingtip clearance​

These changes are necessary to reflect advances in construction of the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP) and/or enhance safety. Most of the new taxiways listed above won’t become available for use by aircraft immediately on August 20, but instead remain under construction for varying periods. In order to reflect this, Notices-to-Airmen (NOTAMS) closing them will be issued and coordinated by the CDA.
