Attention Pilots and All Other O'Hare Airfield Users

On October 17, 2013 the O’Hare Modernization Program will reach another milestone with the opening of a new south airfield Runway 10C-28C.

New Runway configurations will also be implemented. Aircraft arrivals and departures at O’Hare will change to predominant east and west flows.

In most weather and wind conditions:

  • Runway 10C-28C will be used for arrivals
  • Runway 10L-28R will be used for departures

Runway 10C will have a declared landing distance of 10,540 feet.

The changes are part of an overall taxiway renaming implementation plan for O'Hare that will evolve over the course of the next several months and beyond to encompass the full construction of the O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP). In order to accomplilsh these changes, a small group of taxiways will be re-deisgnated every 56 days beginning January 10, 2013.
