In partnership with the fashion design program at Columbia College of Chicago, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) hosted a unique fashion competition, most recently in the fall of 2022, where fashion students assembled a new piece of wearable fashion using recycled materials provided by airlines. This year's winner, Alicja Hejnar, made a dress inspired by MAC's "Travel Exclusive: Priority Eye and Face Palette" featuring a skirt made from an up-cycled pilot's jacket.
About the Challenge: Students from the Columbia College Chicago Fashion Design Department competed in a quest to design a fashion to complement their "inspiration item" provided by O'Hare retailers. The students' designs incorporated "recycled" materials provided by O'Hare airline partners.
This year, in 2022 we welcome the Columbia College Video and Cinema students, who are documenting the event, inviting us on a behind the scenes tour and personal meet-and-greets with the designers, and a chance to experience every aspect of the challenge virtually. Please join in.
