O’Hare International Airport is the first airport in the U.S. to offer the Automated Passport Control (APC) program. APC is designed to help travelers move quickly through the U.S. border clearance process by entering information at a self-service kiosk. APC is also available at Midway International Airport.
What is APC?
APC is a free service and does not require pre-registration or membership. Instead of filling out a declaration card, passengers who are eligible can proceed directly to a self-service kiosk in the passport control area. APC is easy to use and maintains the highest levels of protection when it comes to the handling of personal data or information.
Who Is Eligible to Use APC?
APC can be used by all U.S. and Canadian passport holders, as well as international travelers with Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval.

How Do I Use APC?
Travelers will be prompted to answer a series of questions at the touch screen self-service kiosk. Once passengers have completed the series of questions, a receipt will be issued. Travelers then bring their passport, travel information and receipt to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer for verification.
What languages are available on the APC Kiosk?
English, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, Dutch, German and Chinese (Traditional/Simplified) and Japanese.
