Volunteers assist passengers throughout O’Hare and Midway International Airports. There are many different opportunities, including staffing information desks, welcoming military service members, and assisting vulnerable passengers. Volunteering is fulfilling way to give back to the airport community, and helping others makes you feel great in return.


Volunteer Opportunities at O'Hare

Travelers Aid Chicago​​

Travelers Aid Chicago volunteers staff terminal information desks or walk the terminals in O’Hare’s domestic terminals, assisting more than 1,000,000 passengers each year. Volunteers are needed on weekday evenings, weekends, and weekdays.

Volunteers’ time is spent:

  • Walking the terminals, searching for passengers in need
  • Providing direction to lost and confused travelers
  • Sharing information about the airport and Chicago
  • Assisting vulnerable passengers with special escorts on to their next destination

USO of Illinois

The USO of Illinois staffs two USO Centers at O’Hare Airport. Volunteers are needed to serve on regular and recurring shifts to keep all USO of Illinois Centers open for business during their center-specific hours of operation. Volunteers at a USO Center location can expect a typical day to include:

  • Greeting troops or military families and checking ID’s for access into the facility
  • Providing assistance to guests within the USO Center as needed

Airport Volunteer

Airport Volunteer staff terminal information desks throughout Midway Airport. Volunteers are needed to serve regular and recurring shifts on weekdays and weekends. Volunteers also assist with special events like terminal entertainment.

The USO of Illinois staffs one USO Center at Midway Airport. Volunteers are needed to serve on regular and recurring shifts to keep all USO of Illinois Centers open for business during their center-specific hours of operation.
